Believing in Yourself: Rise from the Ashes and Transform Your Spirit
Imagine a phoenix, engulfed in flames, reduced to ash… only to rise again, more radiant and powerful than before. That’s the image that comes to mind when I think of personal transformation. It’s not just mythical symbolism. It’s you. It’s me. It’s all of us. It's when we take life’s brutal challenges, turn them into important lessons and use them to spark something fierce and beautiful inside ourselves.
Believing in yourself is the first step on the transformation journey. I know because I’ve been there. I’ve faced the ashes of my own life more times than I care to count. I’ve carried heartbreak, trauma, and low self-confidence so heavy it felt like I’d never breathe freely again. But time and time again, I rise. Why? Because Spirit isn’t done with me yet. And Spirit isn’t done with you either, and it's time to rise up.
I want to take you through what I’ve learned on this path, show you how I turned my pain into power, and share the steps that helped me transform my relationship with myself. You deserve to rise. You deserve to believe in yourself and take back your narrative, no matter what’s happened or what you’ve been told.

When everything feels lost, when you’ve hit rock bottom, and nothing seems right—remember, you still have yourself. Believe in yourself. Once you do, no one can ever take that away from you.
Why Believing in Yourself Matters
What Does Believing in Yourself Look Like, Spiritually and Practically?
Believing in yourself is more than a motivational slogan; it’s a deep faith in your own abilities, your own intuition, and purpose. It’s saying, “I’ve got this,” even when doubt whispers otherwise. On a practical level, that faith builds self-confidence. Confident people make clearer decisions, take risks, and stay focused on what matters most to them. Research shows this belief has a huge impact on relationships, career success, and overall happiness.
But on a spiritual level? It’s about trusting that Spirit and the universe have your back. It’s about surrendering fear and knowing whatever’s happening in your life is guiding you toward growth. That shift in perspective can open doors you didn’t even know were there. This blend of inner confidence and external trust creates a life that feels purposeful and aligned.
Everything falls into place when you believe it will—but it starts with you and the mental work to make it happen.
The Weight of Low Self-Confidence
When you lack confidence, it’s easy to feel stuck, disconnected, and unsure of your place in the world. Low confidence isn’t just about doubting your skills; it’s about doubting your worth. I have been there. I’ve lived in fear of making mistakes or failing at something new. Moreso, I have spent too much time believing the cruel words of others, questioning my abilities and purpose. It’s exhausting, depressing, and takes away from your soul.
Low self-confidence doesn’t just keep you small; it disconnects you from your Spirit. Because how can you feel aligned with your higher self when you’re busy tearing yourself down?
Here’s what I’ve learned from the other side of that darkness: self-belief is a skill you can develop. You don’t have to stay trapped in self-doubt forever. The journey is tough, and just when you think you’ve figured it out, life throws something new your way. But every time I’ve chosen to believe in myself, something amazing happens.
Rising from the Ashes of Low Confidence
Step 1: Reconnecting with Your Inner Spirit
Start by tuning out the noise around you. Create moments of stillness through meditation, breath work, journaling, or walking in nature. Ask yourself daily, “What does my Spirit need today to feel confident and aligned?” You may be surprised by the answers. For me, it meant letting go of stories about not being enough. Spirit sees only love, growth, and possibility. Remember, your self-worth is defined by you—not others.
Step 2: Practicing Intentional and Positive Self-Talk
The words you speak—out loud or to yourself—hold power. I started with simple mantras like, “I surrender to Spirit,” and “I vibrate at the highest frequency of love.” Positive self-talk takes practice, but it helps replace “I can’t” with compassion and honesty, making room for confidence to grow.
Step 3: Taking Aligned Action in Small Steps
Believing in yourself doesn’t mean taking giant leaps—it’s about small, aligned actions that build strength. For me, it meant setting daily intentions, saying “no” to what didn’t serve me, and showing up fully, even when it felt awkward. Spirit co-creates with us, and even small efforts attract growth and opportunity.
Step 4: Celebrate Your Accomplishments
Celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Recognizing daily wins, like better productivity or consistency in habits, reinforces growth. For me, it’s realizing tough moments aren’t as challenging as they used to be and bouncing back faster. Progress doesn’t have to be monumental—it’s about the steps forward.
Step 5: Seeking Supportive Energies Around You
Surround yourself with people who fuel your light. Over time, I’ve let go of draining relationships and embraced those that uplift me. It’s okay to distance yourself from negativity and find a community that nurtures your spirit. Seek safe spaces—friends, family, or spiritual groups—that support you when your confidence wavers.

The Benefits of Believing in Yourself
Transforming Failure into Growth
The more I believed in myself, the more I saw failure as a teacher, not a threat. Every mistake became a redirection, guiding me closer to my true path. Failures turned into opportunities to learn, grow, and align with my journey.
Strengthening Your Ability to Move Forward
Self-belief builds resilience and courage to face life’s challenges. It helps you take risks, trust yourself, and navigate fear with determination. With confidence, you approach obstacles knowing you have the strength to keep going.
Living in Alignment with Your Higher Self
Believing in yourself raises your vibration, attracting peace, gratitude, and abundance. Alignment with your higher self brings balance and purpose, allowing life to flow with greater ease and fulfillment.
A Glimpse of My Journey to Self-Belief
There was a time when I didn’t think I could make it past the pain. Since I was a child, I was relentlessly bullied, called names, and crushed under the weight of low self-esteem. The anxiety I carried felt unbearable, and I didn’t understand the root cause of why I felt so unworthy. I reached a point where I ballooned to 326 pounds and turned to self-destructive habits because I couldn’t see a way out. I felt stuck, trapped in a cycle of hurt and hopelessness, unable to see that I had the power to change.
But Spirit had other plans for me. Slowly but surely, I began to take back my power. And guess what? I then got bullied and picked on as an adult. I've had people say the cruelest things to my face and as a fully grown adult in her 30s. There's a point where you start to just believe what people say about you, right? It's been tempting, but I refuse to be a victim. I let myself confront the pain, peeling back the layers to understand the root cause of my struggles. I realized I only have one life to live, and I couldn’t keep letting my past or the opinions of others define my self-worth. I changed the narrative. I stopped letting cruel words and harsh judgment dictate how I felt about myself. I began to rebuild, piece by piece and confronted my shadows.
These days, my spiritual practice is rooted in self-devotion. It’s self-love. It’s remembering every single day that my worth isn’t up for debate—it’s inherent. I know now that nothing and no one can take that from me again. This one life is mine to live fully, free from the chains of anxiety and self-doubt, and I will continue to honor myself as I move forward.

Face Your Fears
Facing your fears isn’t about erasing them—it’s about finding the courage to take that first step forward, even when every part of you wants to retreat. Fear is natural and has helped us survive, but it can also hold us back from opportunities, relationships, and growth.
True growth happens when you lean into discomfort, confront doubts, and face insecurities. In moments of uncertainty, anxiety, and vulnerability, you uncover your strength. This process isn’t easy—it requires courage to act despite fear, persistence to push through, and belief in yourself even when self-doubt creeps in.
Bravery isn’t about being fearless—it’s a choice. It’s choosing to keep moving forward, standing face-to-face with self-doubt and whispered “what ifs,” and declaring, “I am stronger than this.” Fear doesn’t define you; your response does.
Each small step forward builds momentum. Every little victory is worth celebrating. Over time, fear becomes a teacher, revealing hidden strengths and guiding you to parts of yourself you didn’t know existed.
Your fears are not your enemy—they’re an invitation to grow and uncover the resilience and power within you. Face them, one step at a time, and transform.

Improving Self Esteem
One way to build better self-esteem is by saying positive affirmations to yourself in the mirror. Look yourself in the eyes and say things you want to believe about yourself, like: ite down things you’re thankful for to shift your focus to the positive aspects of your life.
"I am strong."
"I deserve happiness."
"I am enough just as I am."
Say it with confidence. Speak to yourself as you would encourage someone you believe in—because you should believe in yourself.
Other ways to improve self-esteem include:
Celebrate small wins: Acknowledge achievements, no matter how small.
Set realistic goals: Break big goals into smaller steps to feel accomplished.
Surround yourself with positivity: Spend time with encouraging people.
Practice self-care: Prioritize sleep, exercise, good nutrition, and joyful activities.
Challenge negative self-talk: Replace critical thoughts with compassionate ones.
Learn something new: Trying new skills or hobbies can boost confidence.
Keep a gratitude journal: Write what you’re thankful for regularly.
The first time I tried doing affirmations over 15 years ago, I couldn't do it. I actually cried because the self-hatred was so deep. But over time, these words started to sink in, and I began to feel a little more aligned with the incredible person looking back at me. It’s a journey, but with these strategies, you can start building the self-esteem you deserve.
The Self Fulfilling Prophecy
When it comes to self-esteem, the power of our thoughts and beliefs cannot be overstated. Have you heard of the term "self-fulfilling prophecy"? It refers to the idea that our beliefs or expectations shape our reality—what we believe can become our truth.
When we constantly tell ourselves negative things like "I'm not good enough" or "I can't do this," we set the stage for those beliefs to hold us back. On the flip side, a strong, positive outlook on our abilities can boost our confidence, improve decision-making, and help us achieve success. Confidence matters—it influences how we navigate challenges, build relationships, and pursue opportunities.
If you find yourself stuck in negative thought patterns, don’t worry. These habits can be changed. A powerful technique called cognitive restructuring helps identify and challenge negative thoughts, replacing them with positive, realistic ones. Over time, this practice can strengthen your self-esteem, improve your relationships, and give you the confidence to make better decisions and achieve your goals. A strong sense of self-worth is the foundation for a happier, more successful life.
The Journey to Awaits
Believing in yourself is a commitment to align with your inner strength and take intentional steps forward. Transformation isn’t instant—it’s built on small, courageous choices to trust yourself, even when doubt arises. Like a phoenix rising, your struggles can ignite growth if you let them..
Reflect on where you are now. What’s holding you back? Take one small step today—practice a mantra, journal, or simply show yourself kindness. Every action fuels your transformation. Trust your power, lean into it, and start your rise. You’ve got this.
